Beauty Blogging Blonde: Gok Wan for Specsavers

Gok Wan for Specsavers

I mostly wear contact lenses to correct my ridiculously rugby-ball shaped, lazy & unfocused eyes, but I do love a pair of statement glasses for days when I feel my wardrobe needs a little boost (or if I have an important meeting).

I’d been lusting after a pair of Cutler & Goss, but was not prepared to shell out £270 (then another £100+ for custom lenses). This pair are from the Gok Wan range at Specsavers and they also come in white! What I loved more about these than similar pairs available was the matte, textured wood effect. Just a little bit different.

What’s better is that because I have the contact lens direct debit with Specsavers, all my glasses are 50% off, so these cost me £45!!

Dare 2 Magazine: WAN WAY OF LIFE

The making of Gok Wan, and his pledge to give something back…

Synonymous for encouraging a nation to shed their body conscious inhibitions, along with their clothes, it’s ironic that back in his awkward teen years, Gok Wan would rather die than bare his body in public.

There was only one word to describe Gok Wan’s Westfield Garden City styling show- hilarious.

Some of the quotes from when he first stepped on stage were –

“I do clothes very well, but I do boys better,” and “this girl’s fashion sense is like Brisbane’s gay scene, almost non existent.”

Needless to say, he connected with the audience straight away with his friendly and bubbly personality and never ceased making the audience and I laugh at his never ending jokes – handy when you’re dealing with the often fraught world of fashion.

During the show he called six random audience members up and shared some styling advice depending on their body shapes. There were a mix of shapes from pears, rectangles, triangles, apples, hourglasses and inverted triangles.
