Gok’s Teens: The Naked Truth

Posted on January 31st, 2012 in TV

Hi Guys,

So excited to let you know about my new series which is airing on Tuesday 7th February at 8pm on Channel 4.

It was one of the most difficult, yet fulfilling programmes I have ever made! I hope that not only you enjoy it but can start to have an understanding of what teenagers are going through in the world we live in right now- and maybe with a better understanding we can try and make every teenager’s life that little bit easier and help them get through some of the most challenging years of anyone’s life!

So remember to get the tissues out as I’m quite sure you may need them!

Hope you enjoy it and have a cheeky peek at some of my very special guests who helped me make the show in this video!

Loads of Auntie Gok love!

The teens who moved me to tears: Gok Wan reveals how two brothers taught him the real meaning of courage

When they agreed to take part in a series about troubled teenagers, hosted by fashion guru Gok Wan, it’s hard to see what brothers Ben and Michael Watson could have hoped to gain.

For their problems were in a completely different league to the acne/bullying/unrequited love ones that normally plague teenage years.

In short, their father was dying. At the time they invited the cameras in, they simply did not know how long he had left – six weeks, six months or six years.

Fabfrocks: Shapewear from Gok Wan and Simply Yours

Posted on January 25th, 2012 in Press Cuttings

Shapewear from Gok Wan and Simply YoursHi guys,

I’ve been singing the praises of Gok Wan’s shapewear for years (I first reviewed it back in 2009). So I was delighted when I was invited to check out Gok’s latest shapewear collection, and him in person.

This is Gok’s 8th collection for Simply Yours, which consists of six pieces: the multi-way Banger Booster bra, the Pull Me in Pants, the Curve Controller body, the Slicker Knicker, the Sassy Slip and the Divine Outline multi-way slip. All six styles are available in 3 gorgeous colours: Crush, Sweet Slate and Blush.

Investinyourchest.co.uk: The ‘Osaka’ body by Gok Wan at Simply Yours

Posted on January 25th, 2012 in Press Cuttings

The ‘Osaka’ body by Gok Wan at Simply YoursSo as this blog post goes live, Cheryl (the birthday girl!) will be joining some other wonderful lingerie bloggers at a breakfast to launch a new collection from Simply Yours with the man himself, Gok Wan. And what will I be doing? Getting ready to have surgery on my eye, woe is me! Despite my misery, I thought it was perfect timing to review my favourite piece from the Gok Wan collection at Simply Yours. Say hello to the Osaka body!

I fell in love with this body when it first came out, but at £50 I just couldn’t justify it, especially when I’m supposed to be on a mission to save AND not buy (too much) lingerie. I even ordered it and tried it on, which made the heartbreak even worse! So, you can imagine my utter glee when I discovered the Osaka body in the sale for a purse-friendly £22.50. I’m also a huge fan of bodies but my lowly collection currently stands at one; a perfect excuse to buy it a friend!

Gok’s charity of the month – January: Alzheimer’s Society

Posted on January 18th, 2012 in Charities

Alzheimer's SocietyAt the beginning of a new year which is full of hope and promise we can often be humbled by not only the suffering we see and read in the news but by those much closer to home. It is often the case that those that are nearest and dearest suffer in silence as they either struggle to look after themselves or are in the position of carer where they selflessly put others before them. The Alzheimer’s Society are one of those hugely important charities which holds a beacon of hope and promise no matter what time of the year it is to all those who suffer with dementia, and for those whose hard work and dedication help to pursue a dream of giving those with dementia the best possible support they can in all aspects of their lives. Please take a moment to read further about this vitally important charity and how you can do your bit to support them.

Loads of love

Your Aunty Gok

Alzheimer’s Society is the leading support and research charity for people with dementia, their families and carers. There are 750,000 people with dementia in the UK with numbers set to rise to one million by 2021.

The Society’s fight for a better world for people with all types of dementia takes a wide range of forms. Through our network of local services, we touch the lives of over 30,000 people every week, providing practical services and support for people with dementia and their carers.

Through campaigning and lobbying we strive to influence government policies and raise awareness of the challenges faced by people with dementia and the people who care for them. And through our research programme we work to improve the knowledge we have about dementia and its treatment – and pursuing the ultimate goal of finding a cure.

There are a number of ways you can support us or get involved – below are just a few:

If you have jewellery that is either broken or no longer wanted, Alzheimer’s Society can put it to worthy use by recycling it to raise funds in our Old Jewellery Appeal. We welcome jewellery of any kind – whether it’s an odd cufflink or earring, or a bracelet or necklace that you no longer wear. Every single item is gratefully received, and the money raised will be used to fund our vital work.

Fundraising events are a great way to raise money and push yourself with a real challenge. From running a marathon or 10k to trekking the Great Wall of China there a number of ways to support us.

We’re also always on the look out for volunteers. There are many opportunities available including helping us deliver services and supporting the running of events in your local area to working in our central office in London.

To connect with Alzheimer’s Society and stay up to date with the latest news, events and discussions you can Like us on Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/alzheimerssocietyuk) and follow us on Twitter (http://www.twitter.com/alzheimerssoc).

Posted on January 3rd, 2012 in Press Cuttings

Gok Wan's perfect Christmas Night In...Gok Wan, 37, likes to make personal Christmas presents for his loved ones, including parents Myra and John.

‘At this time of year my best mate Elaine comes round and we make special books full of photos, letters and mementoes from the year to give to our folks and close friends,’ he explains.

‘I’ll light candles, bake some treats and put up a tree – a real one, for the pine scent.

‘Then Elaine and I will sit there stuffing cloves into oranges and stitching ribbons on to the gingerbread men we’ve made earlier.’
