Gok Wan and his ‘dangerous’ 60s fashion collection for Tu at Sainsbury’s

Gok-Sainsburys-Tu“Cosmo’s Online Fashion Editor Natalie caught up with Gok Wan following the launch of his latest collection for Sainsbury’s to talk 60s fashion, ‘chequebook celebs’ and booty trousers…

I have been touched by the Hand of Gok. Quite literally. And if just a smidgen of Britain’s favourite style guru’s success rubs off on me, I’ll be quids-in.

I caught up with Gok following the launch of his latest collection for Tu at Sainsbury’s, which is surprisingly good. I say surprisingly, not because I’d ever doubt Gok’s golden touch or because I’m a supermarket snob, hellz no! I say it because the range is pretty darn impressive.”

Gok for Tu rangeThank you to everyone who entered my competition to win 10 pieces from my new Sainsbury’s Tu collection – it was great to read through all your amazing entries describing why your world loves you. And so hard to choose a winner! I’m keeping all your inspiring entries on this page of my website.

A big congratulations to Paula Yuen whose winning entry is below.

Gok x

My world loves me because:

1) i am always there for my amazing little girl no matter what. But especially when she needs that special hug to send the nightmares away

2) I’m at the end of a phone day or night to my amazing sister who lost her husband this week to cancer. Even if its just to talk rubbish just so I can hear her laugh

3) I’m the worst person to return calls but my friends know that if they need me in an emergency ill drop everything for them

4) it’s now been nearly a year since my last panic attack and I’m starting to finally relax and enjoy what I have

5) because I have gone up (yes up) 2 dress sizes in the last year and a half but I’m proud of my new bum and boobs and saggy belly as I have my precious daughter which was amazing as I had suffered a miscarriage on New Year’s Eve 2010 .

Daily Mail: FIRST LOOK: Gok Wan’s new ‘laidback luxe’ spring collection for TU at Sainsbury’s

Posted on January 31st, 2013 in Fashion,News,Press Cuttings | Comments Off

FIRST LOOK: Gok Wan's new 'laidback luxe' spring collection for TU at Sainsbury'sWith an impressive five sell-out collections for TU at Sainsbury’s under his studded belt, flamboyant fashion expert Gok Wan is back with a sixth stylish offering.

It is clear that the stylist knows a thing or two when it comes to women’s fashion – last season one of his red wrap dress sold every 24 seconds and the thigh-slimming black jodhpurs in his third capsule collection sold one every minute – but his latest line shows a lot more cool than the previous designs for the supermarket brand.

Daily Mail: Control pants just got sexy! Gok Wan reveals his red hot new range of Banger Boosters and shapewear for Simply Be

Posted on January 28th, 2013 in Fashion,Press Cuttings | 3 comments »

There are Banger Boosters, Slicker Knickers and Pull Me In pants. There’s the Bombshell Plunge, the Curve Controller and the Divine Outline.

This colourfully named list of shapewear is the latest collection from Gok Wan for Simply Be - and it’s winning rave reviews already.

Banning boring beige and bringing in glam colours, lace and retro Fifties styling, Gok is tearing up the rule book and bringing sexy shapewear to the masses.

His new range, which he describes as ‘glam 50s’, is functional shapewear with all the crucial elements there – high waisted pants with tummy control panels, multiway bras, slips that hold in all the lumps and bumps – but it comes in bright, candy store colours and sweetly retro prints.

There is bow detailing, contrast stitching and trim and pretty lace detailing that makes it possible to actually reveal it in the boudoir – rather than sneaking off, Bridget Jones style, to swap your granny knickers for something a little more slinky.

Telegraph: Gok Wan’s Paris

Posted on January 11th, 2013 in Fashion,News,Press Cuttings | Comments Off

Gok Wan, the fashion stylist and television presenter, adores Paris for its art, culture, food and the Galeries Lafayette department store.

Why Paris?

I adore the shopping, the art and culture, and, of course, the food. I love the idea of going somewhere that is so different from England, but is only a train ride away. And I think Parisians’ reputation for being rude is unfounded: I’ve always found them welcoming without being over the top. They just allow you to do your thing.

Anything special I should pack?

Sunglasses, regardless of the time of year. Paris is effortlessly chic and the moment you put on a pair of shades, you become just that bit more stylish. I love watching Parisians going about their business, invariably wearing a pair of sunglasses.

Posted on December 7th, 2012 in Beauty,Fashion,News,Website | 1 comment »

Hey Guys, Here’s something very special for you – it’s the first time we have done anything like this on gokwan.com. I am very excited to bring you these images – they’re the result of an amazing collaboration with SLiNK magazine and my Simply Be range – showing all you beautiful ladies how underwear should be worn!

[portfolio_slideshow]

I hope you like it and look forward to hearing from you about what you like and if you would like to see more things like this in the future!

Festive hugs! xxx

What SLINK had to say about our collaboration…

SLiNK magazine adores Gok’s fashionable take on shapewear. The collection Gok does with Simply Be always feels romantic, vintage and super glamorous and puts other shapewear to shame. We really wanted to celebrate the fact that for once there is an exclusive collection for curvier women that feels fresh, modern and totally sexy as well as having a fantastic functional aspect. The shoot was based around the theatrics of showgirls and oozes the glamour that every woman can feel in Gok’s amazing lingerie collection.

What the lovely people at SLINK are all about….

At SLiNK magazine we promote a healthy lifestyle and body confidence, without the guilt trip.

Our tagline is ‘Fashioning Your Curves, Styling Your Life’ as we believe no matter what size you are you can be on trend and living life to the max.

We talk health and fitness NOT diets and bikini bodies.

Our food section is all about great ingredients, not calorie counting, it’s all about moderation.

The fashion is an eclectic mix of high-street, high-end and online that fits up to a size 22 (although we do try to go 32 where we can) and with price points to suit every purse.

Each issue is packed with short, snappy, articles that you’ll actually want, and have time, to read. Plus great beauty, travel and culture.

Times are a-changing and SLiNK magazine is ahead of the curve – in fact We Are the Curve.

A big day in Wan world!

Posted on March 1st, 2012 in Fashion | 1 comment »

Hello my lovelies! Well the 1st March certainly is proving to be a big day in my world. Two brand new collections are launching today.

Gok's Sainsburys Tu and SimplyBe launches

My 3rd, and I really think best, collection for Sainsburys. I have taken on a lot of advice and feedback from all you guys who have been wearing the first two collections and I hope you are going to love this one – there is a fantastic new print and some fabulous pieces that I think every wardrobe needs!

Then of course I have my new collection for SimplyBe called the Wall of Fame. I’ve taken six classic pieces, in 3 brand new colours, and given them that extra Gok love and affection that will boost, smooth, slim or support! What more do you need ladies!

I really hope you enjoy wearing them as much as I have enjoyed designing them!
Love you loads
Your Auntie Gok
